So now my book “If Our Stones Could Talk” is now officially published. However, the next question remains – “What’s next?” There are so many projects that have been on the back burner for so long, that it’s sometimes hard to think of what’s next. There’s my women’s history book about women in Minnesota in the 1800s. Then there’s my “chick flick” book (as I call it). That was my very first venture in writing a full fledged novel way last century! Or do I pursue writing the kids book on bullying? Last, but certainly not least, there’s the journal entries of my daughter, Caroline, who passed away at the age of 30 three years ago this April. The key to that one is finding all of them! Since her death we’re still going through a lot, and I mean a lot of her things. In fact we’re downsizing to the max ~ that’s my goal this year! After all, it’s just stuff. After starting to go through my childhood home after my dad’s death in November of 2011, I believe I finally realize that all this “stuff” really doesn’t matter. I look at a lot of it and go “Yeah, that’s nice, I remember that, but do I want it in my house now ~ NO! I took pictures of it all. I’ll put the pictures of all that “stuff” in a photo album (okay that’s another goal – someday!) and enjoy the items that way. Okay, enough blah, blah, blah for today – back to the reality of writing!!
So weeks ago I said that I was going to be published. Well, now it’s happened! I’m super excited and totally relieved that it’s finally done! I did, however, have a stop breathing scare a few weeks ago. I was retyping my book “If Our Stones Could Talk” and saving it on a flashdrive. So far, so good, right? Wrong! I must have bumped the flashdrive on the side of my laptop because all of a sudden I had the laptop in my right hand, and a flashdrive in several pieces in my left hand! My mind went blank ~ 70 pages gone. But were they truly gone? I figured out how to put the flashdrive back together but no success was to be had. I had a hard copy I was typing from, but ugh! All that work. After I regained breathing skills again, I went to my laptop and noticed that it had saved everything to date on the hard drive! Yay ~ I was back in business. I did however, finish the book on the desktop, just to make sure. Technology has its benefits, but remember – it’s limited – we’re the only ones with the power to enter our creations from our heads, down through our fingers, and onto the computer. So long story short, please check out my new published creation “If Our Stones Could Talk” on http://www.smashwords.com site. Thanks, take care. Looking forward to your comments!
Okay, so here it is. My first “blog”. I’m about to venture into the world of self-publishing electronic style. I’m going to be typing my murder mystery book “If Our Stones Could Talk” through Smashwords. As soon as it’s ready to go, I’ll post a blog on this site. Looking forward to hearing from you regarding my latest venture. Take care. “Talk” to you all later!
